  • 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt or sour cream, optional
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract or clear extract
  • 1 cup Mini Chocolate Chips can substitute with regular chips
For the Topping
  • 2 tablespoons Turbinado Sugar or coarse sugar of choice
  • 1 teaspoon Flaky Sea Salt to sprinkle on top

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Line every other muffin well with paper liners or lightly grease each well.
  3. Melt the salted butter over medium heat until foamy and browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the cooled brown butter, sugar, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  8. Let the batter rest for at least 15 minutes.
  9. Fill each muffin well with 6–8 tablespoons of batter.
  10. Bake at 425°F for 7 minutes, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 12–15 minutes.
  11. Cool the muffins in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
