  • 1 pkg Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage Can swap with plant-based sausage for vegetarian.
  • 1 lb Extra-Lean Ground Beef Ground turkey or chicken can be used.
For the Vegetables
  • 2 medium Green Peppers Colorful bell peppers can be used.
  • 1 medium Sweet Onion Yellow or red onions can be substituted.
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil Avocado oil can be used as a substitute.
For the Assembly
  • 5 slices Fresh Mozzarella Provolone or dairy-free alternatives can be used.
  • 5 pieces Whole Grain Buns Gluten-free buns can be chosen.
  • 1 medium Tomato Sliced for freshness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cut the medium green peppers and sweet onions into thick rings and coat with olive oil and Italian seasoning.
  2. Crumble the sweet Italian turkey sausage and mix with extra-lean ground beef in a bowl.
  3. Divide the meat mixture into five portions and shape into patties.
  4. Preheat the grill and grill the vegetable rings for about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Grill the patties for about 8-10 minutes on the first side, then flip and cook for another 5-8 minutes.
  6. Add a slice of fresh mozzarella on each patty to melt for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Assemble the burgers with the grilled vegetables and tomato slices on the buns.
