Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round baking pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: eggs, buttermilk, coffee, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the well of the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes cool in pans for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until smooth.
  8. Layer the frosting between the cooled cakes and apply the remaining on top.
  9. Prepare the chocolate frosting by melting butter, whisking in cocoa powder and water, then adding powdered sugar until smooth.
  10. Pour chocolate frosting over the cake and enjoy!
