  • 0.5 tsp Pepper Adjust according to personal preference
For the Pasta and Cheese Layers
  • 12 Lasagna Noodles Use no-boil noodles for easier preparation
  • 15 oz Ricotta Cheese Cottage cheese or blended silken tofu can serve as a dairy-free alternative
  • 1 large Egg Binds the ricotta mixture
  • 3 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Consider using provolone or fontina if desired
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated cheese will enhance the dish further

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the lasagna noodles according to package instructions—boil in salted water for 8-10 minutes until al dente, then drain and cool.
  3. In a skillet, cook ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned, then drain fat and add tomatoes, tomato paste, herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, blend ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan until creamy.
  5. Layer in a baking dish: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mix, more sauce, and mozzarella; repeat, ending with noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and remaining Parmesan.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake another 20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving, garnished with basil or parsley.
