Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; mix until just combined.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to the greased baking dish, pressing it evenly to form a layer.
  4. Spread ketchup over the top, using a spoon to coat evenly.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes until beginning to brown.
  6. Boil potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes until fork-tender, drain and return to pot.
  7. Mash potatoes, mixing in sour cream, milk, and butter until creamy; season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Spread the mashed potatoes over the baked meatloaf layer.
  9. Sprinkle cheddar cheese and green onions over the mashed potatoes.
  10. Bake for another 20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
  12. Slice into squares and serve warm.
