Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Ultimate Cheesy Meatball Subs
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, mix ground meat with breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and freshly chopped herbs until well combined. Roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and cooked to 165°F (74°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.
  3. Slice the rolls lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through. Preheat the broiler and lightly toast the insides under it for 2–3 minutes.
  4. For each roll, add a layer of meatballs, spoon more marinara sauce over the top, and sprinkle grated mozzarella on top.
  5. Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet and broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, then serve warm.
