Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Ultimate Cheesy Meatball Subs
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, mix ground meat with breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and freshly chopped herbs until well combined. Roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and cooked to 165°F (74°C).
- In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.
- Slice the rolls lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through. Preheat the broiler and lightly toast the insides under it for 2–3 minutes.
- For each roll, add a layer of meatballs, spoon more marinara sauce over the top, and sprinkle grated mozzarella on top.
- Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet and broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, then serve warm.
