Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 pound Ground Beef opt for lean beef for less grease
  • 1 pound Ground Hot Sausage swap with mild sausage for a kid-friendly version
  • 8 ounces Velveeta can be replaced with cream cheese or cheddar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce soy sauce works as a good alternative
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano substitute with Italian seasoning if desired
For the Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt can be swapped with garlic powder and salt
  • 1 teaspoon Salt adjust according to your dietary needs
For the Base
  • 12 slices Party Rye Bread try pumpernickel or other cocktail breads for a twist
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Parsley optional garnish for freshness

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef and ground hot sausage. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. Drain excess grease from the skillet after browning the meat.
  3. Add Velveeta cheese to the skillet and stir continuously over low heat until melted, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, oregano, garlic salt, and regular salt. Combine well and keep warm for 2 minutes.
  5. Preheat the broiler to high and line a baking sheet with slices of party rye bread.
  6. Place about 2 tablespoons of the meat-cheese mixture on each rye bread slice, leaving space in between.
  7. Broil for 2-3 minutes, watching closely until the tops are golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Alternatively, bake at 350°F for 15-18 minutes for a slower method.
  9. Once done, sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
