  • baking sheet
  • Spatula

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened butter and confectioner's sugar, and cream until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add molasses and vanilla extract; continue beating until well incorporated and smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing until a stiff dough forms, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Scoop out portions of dough, roll into 1-inch balls, and place on lined baking sheet, spacing apart.
  6. Bake for 9-11 minutes until bottoms are gently browned, soft in the center.
  7. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2-4 minutes before rolling in sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  8. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Optionally re-roll in additional confectioner's sugar.
