Preparation Steps
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter with granulated and brown sugar until thick and glossy. Add eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in dark chocolate chips or chunks ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
- Sprinkle cookies with flaky sea salt and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
