Preparation Steps
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter with granulated and brown sugar until thick and glossy. Add eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in dark chocolate chips or chunks ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  5. Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
  8. Sprinkle cookies with flaky sea salt and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
