Step-by-Step Instructions for Gruyere Popovers
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and place the popover pan inside to heat up.
- Warm the milk in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until small bubbles form.
- Sift together the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.
- Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl until frothy.
- Slowly pour the warm milk into the whisked eggs, mixing continuously.
- Gradually add the sifted flour and salt mixture into the milk and egg mixture, whisk until smooth.
- Remove the preheated popover pan from the oven and fill each cup about three-quarters full.
- Top each filled cup with approximately half an ounce of grated Gruyere cheese.
- Bake for 45 minutes without opening the oven door.
- Release steam by cutting a small slit in the bottom of each popover to serve warm.
