  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and place the popover pan inside to heat up.
  2. Warm the milk in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until small bubbles form.
  3. Sift together the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl until frothy.
  5. Slowly pour the warm milk into the whisked eggs, mixing continuously.
  6. Gradually add the sifted flour and salt mixture into the milk and egg mixture, whisk until smooth.
  7. Remove the preheated popover pan from the oven and fill each cup about three-quarters full.
  8. Top each filled cup with approximately half an ounce of grated Gruyere cheese.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes without opening the oven door.
