Ingredients

For the Dip
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries or frozen cranberries
  • 1 medium jalapeno minced, seeds removed for less heat
  • 2 whole green onions sliced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro chopped, optional
  • 1/4 cup sugar or a low-calorie sweetener to taste
  • 1 pinch kosher salt to enhance flavor
  • 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature for easier mixing
  • 1 whole lime juiced, or lemon juice as alternative

Equipment

  • food processor
  • Mixing Bowl
  • fine mesh strainer
  • Hand mixer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by rinsing the cranberries and placing them in a food processor. Pulse them a few times until roughly chopped, maintaining some texture.
  2. Transfer the chopped cranberries into a mixing bowl and add the minced jalapeno, sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, sugar, lime juice, and a pinch of kosher salt. Fold gently to combine.
  3. Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to enhance flavors.
  4. After chilling, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer over a bowl to remove excess liquid, reserving the liquid.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the cream cheese until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  6. Gradually mix in the strained cranberry mixture and reserved liquid into the whipped cream cheese until well combined.
  7. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and chill for an additional 30 minutes if desired. Serve with crackers or pretzel crisps.
