Step‑By‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat a large high-sided skillet over medium heat and add about 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  2. Add sliced Italian sausage to the skillet and sauté until browned, about 6 minutes.
  3. Incorporate uncooked potato gnocchi, 1 cup of heavy cream, and 1 cup of chicken broth. Stir and bring to a boil, cover, and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the lid, stir in butternut squash puree and minced garlic, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook for 3 more minutes.
  5. Fold in half of the fresh sage and thyme, season with salt and black pepper, and stir until combined.
  6. Plate the creamy gnocchi and garnish with remaining herbs. Serve warm.
