Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Classic Lasagna
  1. In a Dutch oven over medium heat, brown the sausage and ground beef for 8-10 minutes. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water. Season, then simmer uncovered for 1.5 hours.
  3. Boil a large pot of salted water, cook lasagna noodles until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and cool on a kitchen towel.
  4. Combine ricotta cheese with egg, parsley, and salt in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers and finish with noodles, meat sauce, and Parmesan.
