Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • fine mesh sieve
  • Large Pitcher

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 ½ cups of water, sugar, and the lavender buds. Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until it reaches a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar completely—this should take about 1 minute.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the lavender simple syrup cool for about 30 minutes.
  3. Set a fine-mesh sieve over a bowl or measuring cup, and carefully pour the syrup through it to strain out the lavender buds.
  4. In a large pitcher, mix together the strained lavender syrup, 2 cups of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 6 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
  5. Pour the Lavender Lemonade into glasses filled with ice, and brighten each serving with fresh lavender sprigs and lemon wedges for garnish.
