  1. Begin by washing 1 lb. of fresh blueberries under cold water, ensuring they're thoroughly clean. Transfer them into a medium-sized bowl and gently mash the blueberries until they begin releasing their juices.
  2. Sprinkle ½ cup of sugar over the mashed blueberries and mix well. Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to chill.
  4. When ready to assemble, take a mini shortcake and place it on a serving plate. Spoon a layer of the chilled blueberry mixture over it and top with whipped topping.
  5. Repeat the layering process with another shortcake, blueberry mixture, and whipped topping.
  6. Serve immediately to preserve the texture.
