Ingredients
  

For the Cookies
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Browned for a nutty taste.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Light or dark based on preference.
  • 2 large Eggs Room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Opt for pure for best flavor.
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour Can use gluten-free flour.
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder Ensure it's fresh.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Sea salt preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Adjust to taste.
  • 2 cups Fresh/Frozen Blueberries Wild blueberries recommended.
  • 1/2 cup Blueberry Jam Store-bought can be used.
For the Streusel Topping
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Flour Can use gluten-free flour.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine fresh or frozen blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, water, and a pinch of salt. Heat until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. In another saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Allow to cool.
  3. In a large bowl, cream cooled butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mix until glossy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Combine with wet ingredients and fold in blueberries.
  5. Portion dough into balls, create wells, and fill with blueberry jam. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Combine brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon for the streusel. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place dough on a baking sheet, top with streusel, and bake for 15 minutes.
